App Due: June 1, 05 ~ Showcase ~ The Pocono Cup Girls "Premier" Tournament is an unique and special event set aside just for competitive girls soccer. Over the long history of the Pocono Cup, our girls division has grown beyond leaps and bounds. The focus in this event is to isolate this regions premier girls soccer and provide an intense showcase for their teams ability. This tournament is highly recruited by many of the Tri-sate college coaches for it's talent draw and focus on "girls only" soccer. Powerful league select teams, outstanding premier club teams, highly skilled tournament teams and even a few foreign teams always make their presents in the Poconos each year. Last years champions were among some of best teams ever to come from the tri-state region. This year will be no exception. Each team is guaranteed 4 preliminary matches with the opportunity to advance to playoff and final rounds. A maximum of 9 games will be played. Bracketing is determined by the number of teams that apply at each age group. Scheduling is made 2 weeks prior to the event and done by committee blind draw. The Pocono Cup "Boys" Premier Tournament has a 24 year history behind it has played host to some of the greatest teams and individual players ever to come from the tri-state area. Make no mistake about it, this is and has been one of the most competitive youth soccer tournaments around. You can expect to see the majority of the regions select programs present at every age group in this event. However, club teams competing at the highest level or those seeking to get there, find this tournament very appealing and challenging. A maximum of 9 Guest players are allowed provided the players are carded and registered for league play. Guest travel papers are required for those teams from out of state. The tournament is now in it's fourth year and we are building on the great success of the previous years and adding more age groups. The tournament will be held on July 23 and 24 at the Centennial Park soccer fields in BEAUTIFUL TORONTO , CANADA. There will be 3 games guaranteed in the preliminary rounds and awards for all who participate . In case there are 2 divisions in a age group the first two teams to finish with the most points at the end of the 3 preliminary games in each division will advance into a semi final , if there is only one division in a any age group the first 2 teams to finish with the most points will advance into a final. The Showcase has been designed from the ground up to give college-bound players and college coaches a convenient, focused, and exciting experience to aide in the player/college identification process. US and Canadian U16, U17 and U18 Women's teams and players registered with US Club or USYSA for the 2004-2005 soccer year are eligible. Selection preference will be given teams with the greatest number of rising High School seniors (graduation year 2005.) Full player profiles will be provided to all registered college coaches. Teams will play three full-length matches on full-sized fields with high-level refereeing and are provided spacious game warm-up sites. Our tournament venue is recognized as one of the best in the region – set in the beautiful north woods of Michigan, convenient to air and ground transportation and unparalleled recreational opportunities. Currently over 80 coaches from throughout the Great Lakes region (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania) have directly expressed their interest in attending this exclusive showcase; they represent NCAA Division I, II, II and NAIA programs.
