What if I don't have a field available for a game?

It is always preferred to play a game on the scheduled date if at all possible.  Everyone one is already aware of the season game dates and are expecting to play on those dates.  If you don't have a field available for a game you have 3 options:

1) Date Exchange,
2) Give up your home field advantage and play the game at the opponents field, or
3) Work out a New Game Date.

1) DATE EXCHANGE

Two teams must be scheduled to play each other twice in order to work out a Date Exchange which requires action on 2 games.  Lets use this example and assume Newtown does not have a field available for their home game 13B1111.:

Newtown FS should contact Bluebell FS to see if they have a field available on 4/1.  If so, is the Bluebell FS is willing to a date exchange?  (If there is no agreement on a date exchange you must use Option 2 or Option 3 below.)  If an agreement is made to exchange dates then . . .

NEWTOWN HGSF entry: Newtown's home game 13B1111 originally scheduled for 4/1 will now be played on 5/13.  The Newtown Field Scheduler will enter 05/13/07 in the New Game Date column, and enter the time and the Newtown field in the Time and Field columns in the Newtown HGSF.

BLUEBELL HGSF entry:  Bluebell's home game 13B1222 originally scheduled for 5/13 will now be played on 4/1.  The Bluebell Field Scheduler will enter 04/01/07 in the New Game Date column, and enter the time and the Bluebell field in the Time and Field columns in the Bluebell HGSF.

2) GIVE UP YOUR HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE AND PLAY THE GAME AT THE OPPONENTS FIELD

If Bluebell does have a field but is unable to exchange dates, or the two teams only play once on 4/1 (can happen in flights with more than 6 teams), Newtown should find out when the game can be played on 4/1 at Bluebell's field.

NEWTOWN HGSF entry:  Newtown's home game 13B1111 originally scheduled for 4/1 will now be played at Bluebell (still on 4/1).  The Newtown Field Scheduler will enter  the time and the Bluebell field given by the Bluebell FS in the Time and Field columns in the Newtown HGSF.  The field should be entered in this format  "@Bluebell - Park Field"  (or what ever the field name is)

BLUEBELL HGSF entry:  No changes/entry needed

3) WORK OUT A NEW GAME DATE

New Game Dates can be worked out if

A) REQUIRED Neither club has a field available on the scheduled date,
B) REQUIRED If the game has a PCN indicator (*H*, *O*, or *HO*), or
C) OPTIONAL** The home club will allow the game to be played on a different date AND both teams can agree.

It will be much easier on you if you get your coaches helping on these New Game Dates. Home team coach should contact opponent to work out an agreement for a New Game Date.  Your coach will have to work with you as well to find out what dates you'll have a field available.  Once a new date has been agreed upon by both coaches, your coach should send you firm confirmation of the new date.  Keep that for your records in case of any question or confusion later in the season.)

YOUR HGSF entry: Enter the new date in the New Game Date column, and enter the time and your field name in the Time and Field columns..
